Along with a picture of me, courtesy of the new Mac. It turns out to be pretty good at taking pictures in the pitch-blackness of our front room at 10:30 at night.
I'm impressed. I know not everyone is really gonna care about my answers to this questionnaire, but I figured that a picture of the blogger never hurt, right? And this is the first picture taken of me with my new haircut. But enough digression, on to the questions and answers you've (probably not) been waiting for:
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?I love knitting with pretty much anything Rowan, Debbie Bliss, Yarn Pirate, Woolarina, or Zen String. I love to knit with most natural fibers, especially Merino and BFL, and of course I can't knit enough Alpaca Silk or anything containing cashmere (not that I'm expecting either, of course!). :)
1b. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? Scratchy wools and acrylics. I really don't like knitting with Kureyon, either (though I'm sure this brands me a heretic what with all the lizard ridge afghans being created right now).
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? I have a Lantern Moon needle roll.
3a. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? My grandmother taught me when I was about 6-8, so of course I made a bit of an object, then promptly forgot how. I decided to give it another try in very late 2003, and I bought some yarn and a pattern and started re-teaching myself.
3b. Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I used to say Intermediate, but honestly think I may have reached the advanced level now.
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? I have an Amazon wishlist under my real name. It's full of knitting books, of course!
5. What's your favorite scent? Fruity. I love anything mango/peach/citrus.
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? I don't have a huge sweet tooth, but I've a weakness for anything peanut butter and chocolate, like Reese cups. Mmmmm. I've also lately begun to be quite fond of peppermint patties.
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? I know how to crochet (thanks, Mema!) but I don't do much of it, other than edgings. I do spin, and I hope to start getting more of that done.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) My computer and stereo can play a burned CD. My taste in music is quite...eclectic. I like everything from KMFDM to Indigo Girls to Weird Al. But I'm not a huge fan of Country, really, and I don't like Rap either (unless it's the Beastie Boys).
9a. What's your favorite color(s)? Green is my favourite, followed by red, then blue and purple
9b. Any colors you just can't stand? Pink and Orange are reallllllly iffy--I have red hair.
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I am married with two cats, one of which (Spot) is a total fiber wh0re.
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? Yes, I do wear scarves, hats, and mittens. My coat is long and black, so I can get away with any colour there easily. I don't wear ponchos, but I do wear shawls.
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? Socks, shawls, and pullovers.
13. What are you knitting right now? A pair of Monkey socks, a Monet shawl, and a Picovoli top.
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? Are you kidding? I love it!
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? Circular addis all the way, baby. Other than that, I love me some wooden needles.
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? Yes and yes.
17. How old is your oldest UFO? Erm. Not quite sure about this one. I think I'm taking the fifth amendment here.
18. What is your favorite holiday? Saint Patrick's Day all the way! Bring on the green and the beer, but please leave out the green beer. Gee-ross, people.
19. Is there anything that you collect? Sock yarn. It's a sickness, really.
20a. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on?
Okay, here goes: I would love any of the books on my Amazon list, really. In terms of yarns, I still haven't managed to get my hands on any Koigu or Malabrigo, and I would love to try them. I could definitely use some size or addis that are at least 32" long. I also would like to knit a Somewhat Cowl, some Anemoi mittens, Wicked, and Green Gable, but haven't gotten around to buying the patterns yet.
20b. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I have zero knitting magazine subscriptions, but I love Interweave and Vogue.
21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? Still haven't learned entrelac.
22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? I am indeed a sock knitter, and I have a US size 7 foot.
23. When is your birthday? 12 July.
