Woohoo!

Look, look! My first package of SP10 arrived this morning!

It was full of candy and perfect yarn, as you can see from the pictures. I just love the shots of the green yarn in the newly green springtime grass. The pink flower petals all over the grass are from the crab apple tree they were photographed under. That little nook of shade is my favourite place to take yarn portraits, shady in the afternoon and pretty almost all year. Crabapple blossoms in the spring, gorgeous green grass in the summer, and red crab apples in the fall.

This yarn is not just beautiful--it's so soft! I'm sure that the picture has also informed you that it's Malabrigo, if you didn't deduce just from the look of the yarn, but the colour is listed on the other side of the crad. For anyone who was interested (and just to brag) this colour is called Verdes. I've worked with Manos before, but I think this is softer. I've seen it all over the place on knitting blogs, but I'd never held it in my hands until this morning. It's just perfect for the Shifting Sands Scarf pattern I printed out a few weeks ago. I've been looking for the perfect yarn since Grumperina posted the pattern, and I've wanted to make it out of Malabrigo, since Brooklyn Tweed's turned out so well. Sadly, there's a severe shortage of the stuff around here, and I didn't want to buy a colour based on some tiny internet thumbnails, but it turns out I don't have to. This is exactly the colour I would have picked myself!

I'm so impressed with my pal already. :)
